Meet kyle, founder of loudlandsLearning how to be loud
When I was a kid, music was where I turned when life got tough, when I wanted to build relationships, or when I wanted to express more than words could capture. As I got older, I knew I wanted to continue that expression for myself and help others experience it too. Making music is still one of my favorite activities and outlets in the world; I've built my life around it. I’m a teacher, drummer for the Blue Man Group, session musician, and music producer—and the founder of Loudlands Music Lab.
Before we were Loudlands, we were Boston Drum Lessons and Boston Piano Lessons, founded in 2015. The goal was simple: share my passion with the community and help people build a meaningful music hobby. It is beyond exciting to watch people develop confidence and prove to themselves that they have music inside them.
Being loud is as much about your confidence and unique identity as a musician as it is about turning up the volume. I want people to feel at home here—like they can express themselves fully and wholeheartedly. I want people to come from work or school to our studios, make an insane amount of noise, then go home feeling rejuvenated.
Oh, and quiet can also be loud. Think about it…

Our values
Our mission is to be the most inclusive arts development and education organization in the Boston area. We help people find and develop their artistry by educating, entertaining and inspiring creativity.

Education
All our teachers undergo a training process to help them develop their methods and strategies for teaching the Loudlands ethos. We also create and curate proprietary curriculums for all of our instrument and creative services. Our goal as a teacher core is to create tools and resources that reflect our knowledge and musical values and share that with our students and music community.

Learning music should be fun. Our job as educators is to show you what’s possible on your instrument and curate a great experience in every lesson. We’ll perform for you, study songs from the artists and bands that you love, and watch videos of amazing performances. Let’s get loud together.

Inspiration
Learning music can also be hard. It takes work, consistency and patience. It will be challenging and even frustrating at times. That’s just part of the deal. But our team is made up of musicians who have experienced the challenge firsthand and we work to give our students tactics to move through it and keep progressing. Because we know it’s worth it.
